Power Flushing
Cleaning sludge and debris out of heating systems so radiators and boilers work properly.
Overview
Over time, rust and debris build up inside heating pipes and radiators as a dark sludge. It blocks flow, creates cold spots and puts strain on the boiler pump and heat exchanger. A power flush circulates cleaning chemicals through the system at high flow to lift that debris out, and is often recommended before a new boiler is fitted to protect it.
Common problems we deal with
- Radiators cold at the bottom or in the middle
- Dark, dirty water when a radiator is bled
- A noisy boiler or pump struggling against blocked pipework
- Preparing an older system for a new boiler
How the work is done
- Check of the system to confirm sludge is the likely cause
- Connection of the flushing unit and circulation of cleaning chemicals
- Radiator-by-radiator flushing until the water runs clear
- Refill with corrosion inhibitor and a check of every radiator
What you get
- Faster, more even heat from radiators
- Less strain on the boiler and pump
- Protection for a newly installed boiler
- Inhibitor added to slow future build-up
Power Flushing: questions
Does every system need a power flush?
No. It depends on the condition of the water and how the radiators behave. We will tell you if a flush is worthwhile or if a simpler clean will do.
