Cookers and Hobs

Safe connection, disconnection and fault-finding for gas cookers and hobs.

Overview

Gas cookers and hobs must be connected by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Whether you are fitting a new range, swapping a hob during a kitchen refit or dealing with burners that will not light, we make the connection safely, test for tightness and check the appliance burns correctly before handing it back.

Common problems we deal with

  • A new cooker or hob that needs connecting
  • Disconnection and capping during a kitchen refit
  • Burners that will not ignite or keep going out
  • A smell of gas near the cooker (call 0800 111 999 first)

How the work is done

  1. Check of the supply, isolation valve and appliance requirements
  2. Connection or disconnection to manufacturer instructions
  3. Gas tightness test and burner operation checks
  4. Explanation of safe use and isolation

What you get

  • A safe, tested gas connection
  • Co-ordination with kitchen fitters during a refit
  • Faults diagnosed before parts are ordered
  • Work carried out by a Gas Safe registered business

Cookers and Hobs: questions

Can my kitchen fitter connect the gas hob?

Only if they are Gas Safe registered for that work. It is a legal requirement in the UK that gas appliances are connected by a registered engineer.
